November 2007: Deer Dancing |

Deer Dancing
She's doing it again,
her ritual road dancing routine
in the fading September dusk,
the month and hour for deer
to be dancing on open roads,
cloven hoof flying time,
everything set to let go
except for the three-beer driver
in a rusted Chevy pickup
rolling up her dancing road.
They meet at the end
of perfection, a flawless leap,
her body airborne and weightless,
everything pushed
to its limit at once.
